AML Policy for Swap-ETH.com
Effective date: September 9, 2026
Swap-ETH.com applies a risk-based approach to anti-money-laundering and related compliance review. The purpose is to identify activity that may require additional checks while avoiding the inaccurate claim that every crypto transaction follows exactly the same verification path.
Eligible orders can start without a persistent trading account. That account model does not remove the possibility of transaction screening, additional verification or other risk-based action when circumstances require it.
Scope of AML Review
AML controls may apply to orders, wallet addresses, transaction history and other information reasonably connected with a swap. Review can take place before, during or after an order when risk indicators or operational information justify additional attention.
The service may use blockchain information and other available risk signals to assess whether a transaction presents concerns related to fraud, sanctions exposure, stolen assets, laundering or other prohibited activity. Screening is not a statement that every address or transaction is suspicious.
Risk Indicators
A transaction may receive additional review when available information presents elevated risk. Examples can include material links to known illicit activity, sanctions-related concerns, inconsistent transaction information, attempts to misuse the service or patterns that reasonably require further explanation.
Swap-ETH.com does not publish fixed thresholds or a checklist that guarantees a particular outcome. Risk decisions depend on the circumstances of the order and the information available at the time of review.
When Additional Verification May Be Requested
Some orders may require more information before processing can continue. Depending on the reason for review, this can include information relevant to the source of funds, transaction purpose, wallet control or identity of the person responsible for the order.
A request for additional verification should be proportionate to the identified risk or applicable requirement. The fact that eligible orders can start without a persistent account does not mean verification can never be requested.
Possible Outcomes of a Review
A reviewed order may be allowed to continue, paused while additional information is requested, declined or handled in another way required by the relevant risk or legal circumstances. The specific outcome depends on the transaction and cannot be guaranteed in advance.
Where an order cannot proceed normally, support or compliance may provide instructions appropriate to the case. Users should not send additional funds or change networks outside the order instructions in an attempt to bypass a review.
Prohibited Use
Swap-ETH.com must not be used to launder proceeds of crime, move stolen assets, evade sanctions, facilitate fraud, conceal unauthorized access to funds or otherwise support unlawful activity. Attempts to avoid risk controls or provide misleading information may lead to additional review or refusal of service.
These restrictions apply regardless of whether an order initially starts without a persistent trading account. A simpler account flow is not an exemption from transaction-level compliance controls.
AML, KYC and Account Registration
AML and KYC are related but different concepts. AML describes the broader framework for identifying and responding to money-laundering and financial-crime risk, while KYC generally refers to procedures used to identify or verify a customer when that level of verification is required.
Swap-ETH.com does not describe every order as universally no-KYC. Eligible orders may start without a persistent account, but risk-based screening can lead to a request for additional information or identity verification when necessary.
Information Used for Compliance
Compliance review may involve order details, public blockchain information, transaction hashes, wallet addresses, information supplied by the user and risk signals relevant to the transaction. Information collected for review should remain limited to what is reasonably necessary for the compliance purpose.
Handling of service-controlled information is also subject to the Swap-ETH.com Privacy Policy. Wallet seed phrases, private keys and passwords are not required for AML review.
Compliance Contact
Questions about AML review or a compliance-related request can be sent to [email protected]. Include the order ID and public transaction details when relevant, but do not send private wallet credentials.
General order questions that are not compliance-related should be directed to [email protected] or the contact form on About & Contacts.
FAQ
What is AML in cryptocurrency?
AML in cryptocurrency refers to processes used to identify, assess and respond to money-laundering and related financial-crime risk in crypto transactions. It can include blockchain screening, transaction review and additional verification when risk indicators justify it.
How does AML apply to cryptocurrency?
Crypto transactions can be assessed using order information, public blockchain data and other relevant risk signals. The level of review can vary by transaction rather than requiring the same procedure for every order.
What are AML red flags for cryptocurrency?
High-level risk indicators can include links to known illicit activity, sanctions concerns, stolen-fund exposure, fraud patterns or inconsistent information connected with a transaction. A risk indicator does not automatically prove wrongdoing, but it can justify additional review.
What is the difference between AML and KYC?
AML is the broader risk-control framework for preventing and responding to financial crime. KYC is one possible part of that framework and focuses on identifying or verifying a customer when such verification is required.
Is KYC mandatory for every crypto swap?
Not every Swap-ETH.com order is described as requiring the same identity-verification step at the start. Eligible orders can begin without a persistent trading account, but risk-based review may still result in a request for KYC or other supporting information when necessary.
